Yunil Hwang | Vice President and Head of Advanced Materials Research Institute | Samsung Fine Chemicals
Dr. Yunil Hwang is a Vice President and the Head of Advanced Materials Research Institute of Samsung Fine Chemicals since 2011. Hwang oversees the work being done to enhance competitiveness of existing business and new business, expand research platform, create innovative research culture, and build global R&D infra for sustainable growth. Dr. Hwang began his Samsung career in 2010 as a Vice President of Strategic Planning group. He also held a variety of other research and management positions over the course of his career. Prior to joining Samsung Fine chemicals, Dr. Hwang was a Vice President for Arthur D. Little Korea, where he worked on several consulting projects in areas of electronics, chemistry, and energy. Prior to joining Arthur D. Little, Dr. Hwang was a senior researcher at LG Chem Ltd and the Director of Technical Strategy Team. Dr. Hwang served as a consultant of ICBIN (Innovation Cluster for Bio-Fusion Industry based on NanoTechnology) since 2009, a member of National Future Research Forum, a consultant of Korea Department of OECD Nanotechnology in 2010, and a working staff of Committee of Future Outlook of MEST (Ministry of Educational Science and Technology) in 2009. Dr. Hwang holds a B. S. in Chemical Technology from Seoul National University and a M. S. in Chemistry from Western Illinois University. He earned his Doctorate degree in Chemistry/Chemical Physics from Carnegie Mellon University. In 2005, he received a certificate of MOT (Management of Technology) from California Institute of Technology.
